Death of an Angel

The little girl in the video is Isabelle. Her best friend Jasmina Anema was battling leukemia. Lamar and Khloe got involved to help spread the word about becoming a bone marrow donor. Unfortunately, Jasmina lost her battle with cancer yesterday. Visit One for Jasmina to sign up to recieve the do-it-yourself bone marrow donor kit. All you have to do is swab your cheek and mail it back. You could save a life. If you visit Lamar's official website, (lamarodom.com) you can watch the video of Lamar and Khloe meeting Isabelle at Christmas. After watching, you'll see why I'm such a big fan of Lamar. He's such a sweet heart and is extremely generous with donating his money and time to help others.

Lakers visit the White House

The 2009 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers were honored at the White House on Monday January 25th. They all looked sharp in their suits. Lamar showing his own unique style, as usual, wearing the purple shirt with the black collar. Luke Walton took a behind the scenes video which was very entertaining and can be seen at his nba.com video blog. Obama cracked on Magic for losing to his Bulls in 1991 which was pretty funny. It was great to see them being recognized for their achievements. Hopefully they'll get a return trip this year! Khloe was able to accompany Lamar and meet Obama as well. Each player was allowed to bring a guest. Both tweeted how excited they were for the opportunity to meet the President.

LA Lakers 2009 NBA Championship Ring!

The Lakers received their championship rings on opening night. The rings are so beautiful! I think it's the most beautiful championship ring I have ever seen. They are made out of a special batch of 15 karat gold in honor of it being the Laker's 15th championship. Also, each player's face is etched on the side of his ring. When viewing the ring from the side, the raised circular area has the profile of Staples Center, where the Lakers play. Lamar was so happy to receive his ring! I am so proud of him to achieve this goal. He's been working toward it for so long and deserves to be remembered as a champion. I'm so proud of my Lakers and hope that they will repeat as champions this year!

Congrats to Lamar and Khloe on their wedding.

I was shocked and surprised to hear that Lamar had decided to marry Khloe Kardashian. I had seen her reality shows before and have to admit that I didn't have a great opinion of her, but in the long run, it's all about what makes him happy. In watching their wedding special on E! it is obvious that they are in love so I support them 100%. They do have a lot in common. Both like to go out and party, both are very social people, and both are very interested in fashion. They both have their own clothing lines. I also think LO likes the fact that she works and has her own career. I read today that they have found a house to buy. Hopefully children will follow soon, as I know LO wants more children. All the best to them as they begin their lives together.

My Three Favorite Lakers

Lamar posted this picture on Twitter of him with Magic Johnson and James Worthy. I love this picture because it is my three favorite Lakers together in one picture. I wish they could have played some games together. Training camp and media day begins tomorrow for the Lakers. I'm so excited that the NBA season is almost here!

Obsession #1

So as you can probably tell by what I have on my blog, I am a huge Laker fan and I'm an especially big fan of Lamar Odom, who plays for the Lakers. That's him in the title picture. I also have that picture as my wallpaper on my laptop as well as on my cell phone. A little excessive? Maybe, but seeing his face makes me smile. His contract with the Lakers was up as of July 1st and needless to say, I spent a miserable few weeks worrying that my favorite player would no longer be playing for my favorite team. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed and he resigned for another 4 years so I'm really looking forward to watching him hopefully win more rings with the Lakeshow in the coming years. Many might wonder who this guy is and why I would pick him as my favorite player because he's not all that famous compared to players like Kobe or Lebron. He's my favorite player because of who he is as a person as well as the unique combination of his size and his skills on the basketball court.

Lamar has been through a lot in his 29 years on this earth. His dad was never around, he lost his mother to colon cancer at the age of 12. He has since lost the grandmother who raised him as well as his 6 month old son to crib death on the anniversary of his grandmother's death. As a young player in the NBA, he had some trouble with marijuana, but he owned up to it, faced it, and rose above it to become a better person. Lamar is very genuine and humble, extremely generous, and very fun loving. His nick name is the Candyman because he LOVES candy and is always sharing candy with everyone. He is also called 'The Goods' and 'The Package' because of how versatile a player he is.

Lamar is 6'10" but has the skills of a guard. He handles the ball and has such a versatile game that he reminds me of my all time favorite player: Magic Johnson. Lamar can post up and rebound or he can bring the ball up the court, or shoot a three pointer. Probably my favorite move of his is when he rebounds the ball and dribbles the length of the court for the layup, going coast to coast like Magic used to do. Lamar is an extremely unselfish player on the basketball court and gets as much pleasure getting an assist as he does scoring. He always puts the team over his own stats or individual goals, and many young players look up to him. This past season, he would invite players from the Lakers' NBDL team the Defenders to his house to hang out, he would take them to dinner, or take them shopping for clothes. He is a really sweet, unselfish guy and everybody loves him. I was so happy to see him win a championship this year and can't wait to see him get his championship ring on opening night vs the Clippers!

I will be posting a lot about Lamar, so be prepared. Training camp starts in early October. I follow Lamar on twitter: http://twitter.com/RealLamarOdom. He is a very funny guy and occasionally does contests for prizes and stuff. His twit pics should post automatically at the bottom of the page.

He also has a website: http://www.lamarodom.com/ Here you can see the latest news on LO with pictures as well as video. It will give you an idea of what a great person he is.

Lamar also has his own line of clothing called Rich Soil: http://richsoil.bigcartel.com/ It's mostly T-shirts but they are really cool and creative. I own one and hope to own a few more in the near future.

Starting Over

This blog began as an assignment for one of my classes. I'm now going to use it as a blog about me and my life and interests. I'm not sure how often I will post or what exactly I'll post...probably stuff about family, friends, hobbies, etc. Hope ya'll enjoy it!
